Oil Additives

Xavier de Langlais Egg Medium Matt

Description

Xavier de Langlais egg medium adds smoothness to the oil, accelerates the setting process, and allows for superimposed effects. It also gives the colours a glossy or matt appearance, depending on the dosage. 4 to 5 drops for a glossy finish, 8 to 10 drops for a matte finish. It is very important to shake well before use. Xavier de Langlais' highly original recipe is derived from the Tempera technique used by Italian primitive painters. It is an emulsion based on oil, water and egg, which, as in the past, is used to fix the colour. It can be diluted with different essences.

Impasto Painting

Painting in thickness means working on the density of the material using suitable mediums to obtain a relief.

To do this, you'll need a painting knife and an impasto medium, oil paint in the colour of your choice, and possibly Flemish medium. Mix the medium and paint with your knife to obtain the desired texture.
