Flashe artists

Flashe painters

For over 60 years, Flashe has been the ally of painters and the symbol of an artistic revolution, including Vasarely and Nikki de Saint-Phalle, and continues to be an asset in the service of artistic freedom for contemporary painters such as JonOne, Didier Vallé, Kelly Anna, Caroline Faindt, Stéphanie de Malherbe and many others.

DIDIER VALLÉ

The hyperrealism virus was inoculated into him at school, when he had to draw a sketch of a chestnut. He trained in the Applied Arts and became a graphic designer in advertising. His fascination for materials and their bubbling remains unquenched. He began to paint in the manner of an entomologist, cataloguing each of the thousand and one facets of a reality he unveiled in close-up. One senses an almost physical need to grasp the material and bring it to life? A total commitment that permeates all his canvases. It was in the army that he first discovered Flashe. He joined a small team whose mission was to paint trompe l'œil on the walls of the barracks at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. Since then, he has never stopped using Flashe. He uses it exclusively.

CAROLINE FAINDT

A prolific artist, Caroline works in sometimes unexpected media (globes, boxing gloves, giant hands) and applies her work to a wide range of fields (stoles, swimwear, jewelry, etc.). This lover of colors finds in the Flashe collection an incomparable strength and intensity: “Flashe colors are unique for me for several reasons: the intensity of the colors, the quality of the pigment, their vinyl texture which is very pleasant and easy to work with. It's a blend of strength and softness. I have the impression that this paint is like me, that it wants to leave its mark, but remain free, to have depth, but blow a wind of lightness”. Artist Caroline Faindt recently introduced Prince Albert of Monaco to Flashe! Simply royal

JONONE

John Andrew Perello, also known as JonOne, likes to use Flashe. This New York artist, a Parisian by adoption, describes himself as a graffiti painter and abstract expressionist. “I've been using Flashe for over 20 years. You can easily change its consistency by mixing it with water. It's very resistant, the quality of its pigments and its great covering power mean you can paint very large surfaces, even outdoors.”

KELLY ANNA

Kelly Anna is a British artist and designer who creates bold, colorful illustrations using a wide range of different media. An experienced Flashe user for many years, she loves its smooth, matte finish, perfect for painting blocks of color. This artist is making her mark on the world of fashion, with collaborations for Nike, Illustrated People and big names such as Beyoncé, Cara Delevingne, Foals and London Grammar.

STÉPHANIE DE MALHERBE

Born in Boulogne-Billancourt, Stéphanie de Malherbe is a graduate of Penninghen, a graphic arts college. After working for fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, where she transcribed her costume ideas for Luc Besson's “The 5th Element” into drawings, she spent 11 years in Mexico and 5 years in Spain. When she returned to France a few years ago, the places of her childhood touched and inspired her. Landscapes are often a starting point from which she then gives free rein to her imagination. She is inspired by what she sees, and then puts it down on the medium of her choice. Simply without knowing where she's going beforehand, she lets the brush go as her inspiration takes her, in a whirlwind of colors. Stéphanie de Malherbe's favorite color: Flashe Lefranc Bourgeois Japanese orange

ESTELLE LAGARDE

A gouache artist and designer, Estelle creates her gouaches for jewelry and watches with meticulous precision, transforming Linel colors into veritable jewels on gray paper. Creative from an early age and passionate about drawing, it was in 2009 that she found her passion, while training in jewelry making at the Lycée Amblard in Valence: gouache jewelry. A love affair begins, with emotion as the starting point for each creation. It was at the Van Cleef & Arpels workshop in Paris that she learned her trade, before setting up her own design studio in 2019. In October 2022, she created the art canvas for the Purnell watch presented to Karim Benzema, winner of the 2022 Ballon d'Or, and her talent as a gouache painter proved equally precise and powerful at Flashe!

OLIVIER MASMONTEIL

Our artist friend Olivier Masmonteil usually works with Lefranc Bourgeois extra-fine oils, but Flashe has given him wings. He decorated the ceiling of the Palais Ledoyen in Paris with butterflies, then guided their flight to the Louis Vuitton travel trunk. In 2022, he set sail on Arthur le Vaillant's sailboat for the Route du Rhum. On his hull and mainsail, he painted a forest of Kahikateas, New Zealand's thousand-year-old trees, sacred to the Maoris.
