Kelly Anna's feminine silhouettes

Kelly Anna celebrates the power and freedom of the female body. Using Flashe paint, she creates bold, colourful silhouettes in the windows of the Charbonnel boutique.

Kelly Anna

Kelly Anna is a London-based artist and designer. Known for her powerful silhouettes, she focuses on movement, sport and well-being. Kelly began her early years as a dancer and gymnast, a dual practice that is evident when she paints her famous silhouettes. She went on to study fashion illustration and print design for clothing and footwear before setting up her own business.

In recent years, she has designed trainers, painted huge murals, organised exhibitions and her success has been enhanced by the collaborations she has been involved in. Her prints have been worn by the likes of Beyonce and Justin Timberlake. Alongside her work, Kelly has spoken at 20 of the world's leading art and design festivals.

Before moving on to digital tools, Kelly draws and paints because, for her, ‘everything starts with the materials’. Her work is full of bright colours and the image of the woman is omnipresent. The influence of Niki de Saint Phalle, Matisse and Hockney can also be felt in her forms.

From theatre to canvas

It was in 1954 that Lefranc Bourgeois developed Flashe, the first vinyl paint to be used as an alternative to traditional art materials. Initially designed for theatre and opera sets, Flashe quickly became an icon for emblematic artists such as Vasarely and Niki de Saint Phalle, for the intensity of its pigments, its matt finish and its coverage.
